Abstract:
Adrenalectomy causes an increase in parasitemia and an acceleration of mortality rate in rats. This is probably due to the Iowertng of host resistance or to further increase in hypoglycemia produced by trypanosome infection.Replacement therapy in adrenalectomized rats offers protection against such infection, but as the interval between the time of adrenalectomy and infection is prolonged, the resistance of the host towards infection increases.
