The chemical examination of Ophiorrhiza mungos, reported to be useful in the treatment of cancer, has been carried out. β-Sitosterol, 5α-ergost-7-en-3β-ol and 5α-ergost-8-(14)-en-3β-ol(as an ester) have been identified in the extracts of the roots of the plant.
