Abstract:

A new alkaloid, C22 H28 N2 O31 provisionally named raunescine, has been isolated from the roots of Rauvolfia canescens Linn. and a 19-methyl-ex-yohimbine or a 19-methyl-alloyohimbine structure is suggested for it.
