Abstract:
Anaemia has been produced in rats by intraperitoneal and intravenous injections of lead acetate. A dose of 6 mg.{100 g. body weight brings down the erythrocyte and haemoglobin values by about 33 and 30 per cent respectively of the normal values, whereas in case of repeated double doses the corresponding values are 60 and 54 percent. Anaemia in both cases reaches its peak on the seventh and eighth day. Anaemia thus produced appears to be macronormoblastic
in nature.
