dc.description.abstract Karanjin isolated in gram scale from Pongamia pinnata was subjected to transformation reactions and eleven analogues were prepared and evaluated for their antihyperglycemic activity in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats, and compared with the standard drug metformin at the dose of 100 mg/kg body weight. Four derivatives showed comparable activity with metformin. en
