Cell-free extracts of Mycobacterium tuberculosis var, hominis H37Rv, M. tuberculosis BCG and M. tuberculosis avian strains have been found to cata1yse the transfer of amino groups from a number of amino acids to α-ketoglutarate. Some properties orthe system in the human virulent strain have been studied in the crude extracts. The anti-tubercular drug, isonicotinic acid hydrazide, has been found to inhibit the enzyme. |
