Abstract:
Eighteen derivatives of quinoline and quinaldine have been tested for their actiVity against Entamoeba histolytica, and the relation between their amoebicidal end points and the various substituents introduced in the quinoline ring has been examined with a view to elucidate the phannacophore responsible for the activity of these compounds,Quinaldine derivatives are rnore active than quinoline derivatives and the alkylamines are more active than the corresponding alkylamtncatkylamlnes.Among the alkylaInines, increase in the chain length at the 4-position ( normal) confers on the compound a. higher amoebicidal activity•
